 Learning Reflection

Today the last for this course.

All of Study!!!

The first week of class teacher introducing course and explain to course syllabus, identification of reading strategies have a previewing , skimming, scanning, restatement,   guessing, predicting etc. next time learn about food by used background knowledge.  And teacher explains to the rule of this class.

The second week we learned about “The Healthy Diet” so we can identify healthy or unhealthy. And I planned the food for healthy.

The third week we learned about “Natural Disaster” watched video about natural disaster, discussing with partner and answer the question. And teacher gave a vocabulary about it. To do exercises in hand out so read about natural disaster for example Typhoon, Flooding   and Landslide. So when we read about news story about natural disaster we use predicting picture what happen in this and we read so use skimming who, what, where, when, why and result and when we answer the question we use scanning for answer.

The fourth week I learned about Natural Disaster continue from last week so we do exercise continue same the last week.

The fifth week I learned about “Today’s Technology” we are talk about technology that we use in life and how to use including how technology to help you study.

The six week I learn about “”Researchers worry as teens up online so we talk about advantage and disadvantage of the internet.

The seven week I learned about “Fashion” and read passage about fashion do exercise in hand out.. Learn about How to use “Use to” and talk with my partner.

The eight week I learned about “Fashion continue and West and meet” the first learned about fashion of country in west and Asia and learned about West and Meet we known about product in Asia to West or West to Asia.

The nine week I learned about West and Meet continue so I do exercise, Grammar about like or as, and talk with my partner about “What are question to ask the foreign when they come to Thailand? 

The ten week I learned about “Scanning” so teacher have a passage for me and the first read question  before read passage when I read passage don’t read every words.

The eleven week I learned about “Extensive Reading” it is a read continue and try to understand don’t focus any word. And to do exerciser talk with my partner about speaking, reading, listening and writing is a very useful or useful and somewhat useful.

The twelve week I learned “Read Faster” when you read passage or text how do you read. The first you should read a title of text and predict title and the next read the text so you read continue don’t focus any words or use dictionary while you read, read until the end and try to understand what the passage tell you?

The thirteen week I learned about “Skimming” so teacher gave me a exercise for read and answer the question so use skimming skills help you to read. Skimming is a read every word but if you saw unfamiliar word or word that you don’t know you should skim it. 

The last class I learned about “Classic Ann landers” Hundreds of Ann Landers' loyal readers have requested that newspapers continue to publish her columns. These letters originally appeared in 1999. And many people that have a problem wanted her to solve the problem or advice.

After class I think that it was easy for me

1.       Scanning Skill it was easy for me because when I do exam or test I can use this skill to help in read many line or read text or paragraph for answer the question so you don’t to read every word just can find key words that you can answer.

2.       I can improve reading skill after class read faster I think that it was easy for me, it’s begin to read faster. It help me to take time to read because that I exam I saw a long paragraph read faster it can help me so start from predicting title of the text for I can guess the text what it about and I should read continue don’t stop when saw difficult word I should skip it and try to understand.

It was difficult for me..

1.       The first it was difficult for me I think that it is a summary each paragraph because I don’t to understand what the text is about that? But I know I should try it again and again again …. Somtime I summary it didn’t same my friends so I just to know it that I summary was a correct or not.

2.       The next I think that vocabulary was difficult for me because some unit vocabulary it was a very difficult someone its new word for me. I know dictionary online can help me to improve part vocabulary including I can speak like a speaker.

              It every problem that I find after study in this class I can to handle to deal with read a lot, practice in this or in that I think it was difficult for improve myself or practice with dictionary online.  This entire subject I understand about how can I read English? So after that I know about reading skill for example predicting, scanning, skimming etc. And then I should to bring each skills to help me.Attitude in this course I think that I was a very happy and I think that teacher can teach me to understand well done. I think this subject it can every useful for me.

I am going to learn about “Classic Ann Landers”

Hundreds of Ann Landers’ loyal readers have request that newspapers continue to publish her columns. These letters originally appeared in 1999.

➤Read each letters and match with it correct response.

➧The first people pen name of her is Careful in Louisiana.   She wanted to ask her to warm the readers to be caution anytime a stranger has been in their homes. And the next Ann Landers’ advise her to pay to be careful and check the lock all the door even though worker has been done or not.

➧The second person pen name of her is Granada Hills, Calif. His wife has a cancer but he didn’t want to friends say “Get well soon” because he well known his wife will die soon. He want friends to stop to say but he didn’t want to friend upset .And the next Ann Landers’ advise he can’t to help him because people are going to continue to say “Get well soon”.  

➧The third person pen name of her is Annoyed in Texas. The problem of her is Vanessa is constantly overstepping her bounds with her children. She wanted Ann Landers to help her solve the problem. Ann Landers advice she shouldn’t compete because it’s normal for new wife will make a points for her husband.            

➧And the last people pen name of her is Sitka, Alaska. The problem of Sitka is when she and her husband went to visited friend and relative but they talk about them or their family so they didn’t ask us about our family. And she wanted to “How many people behave this away?” And Ann Landers told “Million” it is only human to talk about ourselves and our children’s accomplishments, but people of good taste and well-balance egos ask questions about YOUR family, YOUR job and YOUR involvement.

After do exercise we are going to answer the question.

➤And then Teacher said “Make a group 3 people” for answer the next question. So they have a problem and we are Ann landers and we are going to give advice for her.

Dear Ann Landers: Our 13-year-old granddaughter, an only child, visited us recently and seemed completely bored by everything we did to entertain her. We tried museums and galleries, local tourist and lovely restaurant, but she showed absolutely no interest. Also, she ate almost nothing. We had planned for “Maggie” to visit a week, but after three day of getting nowhere with her, we asked whether she wanted to go home. She said “Yes” so we drove her 250 miles back to her parents’ place, even though they had provide her with an airline ticket to return three days later.

Her parents conclude that we expected too much of Maggie and were overly demanding. Ann, this girl is not pleasure to be around. She has grown up with the idea that it is OK to drop her clothes on the floor—and the same with wet bath towels. When we played board games, she tossed all the pieces on to the carpet when she was losing. This behavior was shocking to us, especially because her father (our son) is a psychologist and her mother is a teacher.

Do you have any suggestion on way we can improve our relationship with Maggie? I suspect there are other grandparents who are having this same problem.-----Frustrated in the Southwest.

Do exercise, first read about question second read the text and answer the question.  It uses skimming skill to help read the text and answer. Take time to answer so work quickly as you can.

Read Faster!

Today we are going to learn about “READ FASTER”

Talk with my partner about in order to improve English skills (writing, speaking and listening)?”

 

I improve English skill so I can listen music, reading newspaper in English, watch movie and practice in Dictionary online for speak like a foreign and speak a lot.

How do you read in English?

I read in English the first I read a title of the text or passage the next I read the text and read continue and read again for find difficult word or unfamiliar word and fine meaning word and then write meaning word in the text, after that I think about main idea or what’s the text tell you?

What are obstacles to faster reading?

The obstacle to faster reading is the first difficult words because it when I saw it, I don’t know or understand the words I can’t to understand.

Extensive Reading

We are going to learn about “Extensive Reading” the first we are guesting word the extensive reading / what’s about extensive reading?

In my opinion extensive reading is read continues and try to understand don’t focus any word.

Teacher gave me a question

“Do you often read in English for your private study?” If yes, what kind of reading do you do?

A.   Reading on internet

B.    Newspaper or magazines

C.    Books (for example Harry Potter books)

D.   Reading from English study books

E.    Other

Answer: Yes, I always read in English for private study, reading on the internet and reading from English study books.

In my opinion reading alone in developing the following languages skills so Reading skills,  Writing skills, Vocabulary Grammar are a very useful and Speaking or listening are a somewhat useful.

Reading skills is a very useful because when you read a lot or practice every day you can read English like a speaker and you can read English fluency.

Writing skills is a very useful because when you read a lot you can remember and practice to writing sometimes you might write like a professional.

Vocabulary is a very useful because while you read a book you may see a difficult word(s) or unfamiliar word and then you find a meaning word(s) from dictionary and wrote word(s) to note for practice and remember.

Grammar is a very useful because when you read certainly you can find grammar all the time you read and you try to grammar in order to bring it development writing.

Speaking skills is a somewhat useful when you read you don’t know that you cannot pronounce it or not and you don’t know correct accent if you can read for practice speaking you should practice with Dictionary Cambridge.

And the last one Listening is a somewhat useful because  when you read a lot you may to know about many word and then when you listening the speaker spoke you may understand some word.

“Simply Read” Before read Teacher gave me assignment so think about the word “Research”  This picture about the words of the Research. TOEFL  > Test of English as a Foreign Languages           TOEIC  >  Test of English International Communications                  IELTS   >  International English Languages Testing System   Today I think that it was easy for me is nothing.I think that it was difficult for me everything.Today this class it was good and happy because I can do it with friend and everyone to help to fine answer and take time in read better  than before.

Scanning

On 10 October,2016 We are going to learn about “Scanning”.

What is the Scanning?

Scanning is a type of speed reading technique which is used when you want to find specific information without necessarily understanding the rest of the text or passage. For example, you might scan the list of names in a telephone directory in order to find a phone number. You might scan job advertisements to find a right job.

Scanning → find key word(s)

How do you scan?

When you scan:

         

      Need to have a question in mind ---- What the specific information you need;

.       Decide on a key word or expression that will signal the needed information;

3     

         Do not read every word, you can skip over unimportant words or read only the words that answer your question; and

4

.       Need to read fast.

Scanning is a skill that you use in daily life. The following exercises are example of the texts that you can use to practice your scanning skill.

And teacher gave me do exercise for practice scanning skill and record times to do it. And then time comparison and think about I can take time to do scanning exercise better right? I think that I can do it a better than before and I can find the answer of question it was easy. 

Today I think that it was easy for me is a used scanning skill to help me to fine the answer and I can read faster than before.I think that it was difficult for me was the word unfamiliar sometime I can guess the words or sometimes I used dictionary online.Today this class it was good and happy because I can do it with friend and everyone to help to fine answer and take time in read better  than before.
