Natural Disasters (continue)

On 28 August, 2016 Today was a made up class because we missed the class on 15 August, 2016.The first teacher reviews the lesson last week. And then we were started news story 4.Teacher gave me to read a news story so first we can use Skimming skills and answer the questions and wrote summarize about news story 4.

News Story 4
This news story was about “Japan earthquake: TSUNAMI hits north-east” it was happened on 11 March, 2011. North-East of Tokyo were affected by the earthquake. The magnitude of the earthquake was 8.9 magnitudes. The casualties have been reported 350 people were dead and 500 people were missing.



And the after to summarize we read news story again and decide if each statement is true (T) or false (F) so we use scanning skills for answer the questions.



News Story 5
This news story was about “California fires: Evacuation orders given to 13,000” The fire happened on 4 August, 2015. It happened in California north of San Francisco. Evacuation from their homes was 13,000 and burnt down before Tuesday were 24 homes. Caused the fire was drought and coupled with unseasonably humid conditions, lightning strikes and gusting winds.







And complete each sentence with the correct word.

Today I think that it was easy for me is a used scanning skills and skimming skills to help in the read news and answer the questions. I think that was easy because it was basic and I think ever one can take it. I think that it was difficult for me was the word unfamiliar sometime I can guess the words or sometimes I used dictionary online.I can use reading strategies in reading text when I read a newspaper and I want to summary so I use Scanning and Skimming to help read it. In order to I can understand it easy.

Natural Disasters

On August 22, 2016
Today I studied English Reading Strategies. The first teacher opened video about the disasters…
The first video about “TSUNAMI” in Japan so then we made a group 5 people and discuss the video after watched video to what happen? What were we saw in video? Etc. After discussing we presented something that we talked about video.

In hand out about News Story Natural Disasters so teacher gave to me and group read the news in hand out and answer the question 

News Story 1
News story was about "Myanmar flooding affects one million". Nearly one million have been affected by the floods. The government said up to 100 people died and 1.2 million acres of rice fields have been destroyed. The floods were made worse by Cyclone Komen.

News Story 2
News story about "Typhoon Soudelor hits China with death floods and mudslide". at Chinese province of Fujian and Zhejiang. Damage bills exceeding $ 1bn. The death toll as reports was 17 people and 5 more missing.Three people were killed and one was missing by a mudslide in Ningde. Ningde was is in the eastern province of Fujian. The death toll in Zhejiang province 14 people. The estimated losses in Fujian and Zhejiang province around eight billion yuan ($ 1.9bn). Casualties caused by the storm in Taiwan have been reported 379 people were injure by the storm in Taiwan.

News Story 3
News story about "Landslides killed in Doti and Gulmi dostricts of Nepal". Casualties have been reports 9 people died and one people injure.

In the read news story skills we used were a Skimming, Scanning, Preview picture or headline, guessing words and finding references.
Today I think that it was easy for me it everything easy for me example to read the news story and then I can answer the question so I can used skimming, scanning skills.I think that it was difficult for me was a guessing the words some words I didn’t to know what the meaning and difficult for guessing the words.Today from studied I can use to read newspaper and I can explain to who, what , where, when and result?Today this class it was so serious because we late, talking much and louder so teacher was angry. Next week I think that we are punctual to be on time.

On 8 August 2016, Teacher want to me made a group 4 people. And then to take discuss about the photos in own group about the food picture that is healthy or unhealthy.

Next time, Identify food by the title is “Weekly Healthy Diet Planner” so in own group though about the planner diet.  What should we eat each meal?


This Picture was a planner that we were though and wrote plan by my group.


And then we are made planner already. Teacher want to know in own plan. She gave each group to presentation in front of the class.

The next time, I learned about Essential Skills.

- Predicting/ Activating Vocabulary  
      I can guess mean of the word by the word are unfamiliar.

- Skimming and Scanning 
      It useful to help in reading skills.I can read it fast and read a keywords that are important in the question and then can answer the question correctly.

- Reading for detail 
      When you read the passage you can analyze the passage.




 - Understanding References 
        Sometime in the passage will had a references, I can to knew that the word references it mean to what or who.
         Ex. Sumita and Phanuwat go to the restaurant in the evening. They are a relatonship.

         They  refer to Sumita and Panuwat.

- Vocabulary in context 
                                  To knew about mean of the sentences that is refer to what
                            Ex. A green or brow plant that grows in the ocean is   seaweed.



 Today,I think that it was easy to me
-I can identify the food are healthy or unhealthy.
-I can to improve reading skills.
-vocabulary was easy to me because it was vocabulary I knew.   
I think that it was difficult for me, It was predicting / activating vocabulary because the words are unfamiliar it was difficult to guess.
In course reading strategies, I can use to improve to reading skills. After this class I can predicting  or guess the words, I can read fast by I use skimming skills to help me, I can understand references and can to reading for detail.
This class it was fun and we are improve English skills because teacher teach the other skills and give opportunity to discuss in own group. It  useful to help speaking skills.

First Week

Today I learnt about English Reading Strategies. First class, teacher introducing the course and explain to course syllabus, identification of reading strategies have a previewing , skimming, scanning, restatement, guessing, predicting etc. next time learn about food by used background knowledge. Identification food between unhealthy and healthy. And teacher explain to the rule

1.be punctual

2.Play attention to the lesson

3.Do not use cell phone in the class room


4.Do not cheat


5.Follow dress code policy and Listen while other are speaking and sharing.






                            




For first class, I thought have a something to easy for me …. Something it easy for me is the rule of class.

I found difficult it is vocabulary. Sometime word is a unfamiliar. I can solve the problem by remembering the words that are unfamiliar. The define and write down. Recite these words every day.

In course reading strategies, I can use to improve to reading skills. Sometime we go out and then I come across an article that cannot be done timely manner I can used reading skills to help.

I think this subject is so very well to me because it can help me in reading a lot. It can help to fast in
the exam.
